Police launched a murder inquiry into the deaths of a father and daughter after they were found with serious injuries in a detached house in a quiet village.
The pair - named locally as Costas Pierides and Margaret Pierides - were discovered at the property in Sible Hedingham, Essex, at about 10am on Saturday.
Mr Pierides was pronounced dead at the scene. His daughter died after being airlifted to hospital.
Essex Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the inquiry.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police attended a house and found two people with serious injuries.
"The ambulance service and Essex Police attended and gave emergency medical assistance to a 48-year-old man and a 16-year-old young woman at the address.
"The 48-year-old man died at the scene. The young woman was airlifted to hospital where she later died from her injuries."
Sources confirmed the pair were father and daughter.
Police cordoned off the area surrounding the large detached house at the centre of the inquiry.
Traffic was also prevented from using the narrow country lane bordering the property.
